Perry Hite Bell, 86, passed away at his home in Lubbock on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006. Perry was born Nov. 16, 1920 in Chattanooga, Tenn. He moved to Texas in 1941 to attend Reese Army Airfield and graduated from the first class as a P-38 pilot. Perry served in Alaska during WWII. He later returned to Texas and married Camille Graves on Dec. 21, 1943. In 1947, Perry graduated with a degree in education from West Texas State.
He settled in Crosbyton, where he worked as a lumber yard owner and builder. In 1962, Perry and his family moved to Lubbock, where he was an educator for several years in Lubbock Public Schools. He later completed Masters and Doctorate degrees in Education from Texas Tech University. Perry was a Mason and Past Master of the Lubbock Masonic Lodge. He was an Amateur Ham Radio Operator and a member of the Astronomy Club of Lubbock. Perry and his family were long time members of First Baptist Church in Lubbock, where he sang in the choir.
Perry was a dedicated father and faithful husband and is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Camille G. Bell and two daughters, Caroline Bell of Fort Worth and Catherine Bell of Lubbock.
Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, at First Baptist Church's Ford Chapel with Rev. John Ballard officiating.
