Horace Elmer Bushnell, 89, of Waco, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2008, peacefully at home, surrounded by his family. Services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 31, at OakCrest Funeral Home with the Rev. David Story and the Rev. Michael Goacher officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm, Thursday, at OakCrest Funeral Home.
Horace was born in Waco, Texas, to the late Douglas and Alice Bushnell. His sister was Bettie Bledsoe. Horace was united in marriage to Vivian Pryor on Nov. 29, 1945. They were married almost 63 years. He served in the United States Air Force and retired as a Master Sergeant after 20 years. He also retired from McLennan County Sheriff's Department as a deputy sheriff. He was a long time member of the Heart of Texas Amateur Radio club and was a driving force for amateur television in McLennan County. W5TAH will be missed and remembered by many.
Horace is survived by his wife, Vivian; daughters, Linda Smith and husband, Tony, of Belton, and Jane Strittmatter and husband, Paul, of Ft. Worth; grandsons, Mark Goacher, of Lewisville, and Michael Goacher, of Lake Forest, Calif.; granddaughter, Sarah Strittmatter of Ft. Worth; and great-granddaughter, Megan Goacher, of Temple; other relatives and many friends.
