James Robert Ford BORN: October 12, 1922 DIED: January 19, 2011 LOCATION: Georgetown, Texas James Robert (Bob) Ford(USAF, RET.) James Robert (Bob) Ford, 88, USAF, Retired, was called to his eternal reward by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, January 19, 2011. He retired from the Air Force in 1965. He began a career with the Veterans Affairs Hospital Administration as a Personnel Officer, which took him and his family to posts in Michigan, Louisiana and several Texas locations. They settled in Temple until he retired again in 1984.Bob served his country with honor for 23 years. He served in Australia during WW II and the Berlin Airlift. He and his family were stationed in the Phillipines and Libya during his tours of duty.Bob was an amateur radio operator for over 50 years and met on air daily with his fellow HAMs. He especially enjoyed a game of cards with his family every Friday night in his later years. He was also an avid sports fan, especially Oklahoma Sooners and Texas A&M in support of his sons' alma maters and the Dallas Cowboys. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Frances P. Ford; son, James A. Ford and wife, Barbara Raudonis of Arlington; son, Andrew Ford and wife, Shelly of Georgetown and his beloved granddaughter and buddy, Cherokee Ford.A private Celebration of Life service will be held in Temple with interment at St. Francis Episcopal Church.
