Peter Onnigian, age 93, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2015, in Sacramento, CA, surrounded by his loving family.
Peter became a HAM Radio enthusiast in 1936 with W6QEU, which sparked a lifelong interest in broadcasting. He married his future lovely wife Sadie Shabaglian in 1942. After the war, Peter was the driving force building radio station KGST, Fresno. Later, he was a member of the founding group and chief engineer who built Sacramento station KBET-TV (KXTV). In 1959, he founded Jampro Antennas an international manufacturer of FM and television broadcasting antennas.
His remarkable strengths were his faith in God, genteel spirit, and devotion to his family.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Marie Mandroian, earlier this year. Peter is survived by Sadie, his wife of 73 years; daughter, Kathie Onnigian Huff and husband Terry; son, Phil Onnigian; and five grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will be held at Ararat Cemetery, Fresno, CA, on Monday, March 23, 2015, at 1:00 pm. A Celebration of Peter's Life will be held at Faith Presbyterian Church, 625 Florin Rd., Sacramento, CA, on Friday, March 27, 2015, at 1:00 pm.
