Stephen Weber passed away on March 12, 2008 in Toledo WA., at the age of 85. Steve was born in Fresno CA on Dec. 12, 1922. He spent most of his life in the Fresno area before moving to Washington in 1989. He was a 1941 graduate of Roosevelt High School in Fresno. After working for the Civil Air Patrol at Hammer Air Field during World War II, he started his lifelong career in radio. First, as a broadcast technician and ultimately, as chief engineer.

He started his radio and TV career in Fresno by working at KFRE radio station. He then went to work as an engineer for KFRE-TV (now KFSN-TV) station at its inception, where he soon became chief engineer; putting in a total of thirty-five years here.

He was a long time member of the Fresno Amateur Radio Club and spending many winters skiing with his "ski pals" at Badger Pass. After retiring in 1985, he spent a lot of time traveling to many areas of the world with his wife and family.

He is survived by his wife, Charlene Weber, of Toledo, WA; his daughter, June Ward, of Prather, CA; his daughter, Anita Dodson, of Sanger, CA; his son, Stephen Weber Jr., of Reno, NV; and his granddaughters, Wendy Milosovich, of Sonoma, CA and Stacy Dodson of Sanger, CA; and grandsons, Dustin Ward, of Atlanta, GA, and Brian Dodson, of Sanger, CA.

Steve Weber, W6QON, of Toledo Washington passed away on March 11, 2008. He was first licensed in 1938. He was a life member of QCWA and received a 70 year certificate in 2008. He was a member of QCWA Fresno Chapter 213. Before his retirement, he was chief engineer at Channel 30 TV station in Fresno. He was an avid DX chaser. He will be missed.

Just received some sad news regarding Steve Weber, Channel 30's former Chief Engineer for many years. Steve passed away last night (March 11) at his home in Toledo, Washington. He and his wife Charlene had just returned from a trip to the Fuji Islands about a week ago.

Steve attended the Channel 30 Christmas party last December. He was 85 years old.
