Bruce Herbert Witwer, 79, of Yuba City died Jan. 28, 2007, at Rideout Memorial Hospital. Born in San Bernardino County, he was a Yuba-Sutter resident for 41 years. He retired as a network operation manager for Pacific Bell after 27 years. Also, he was a member of Sutter United Methodist Church, Telephone Pioneers, Sutter County Historical Society and Sutter Buttes Gem and Mineral Society. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Witwer of Yuba City; a daughter, Jennie Arechar of Browns Valley; two sons, Todd Witwer of Bakersfield and Bruce H. Witwer Jr. of Allen, Texas; two stepsons, Dal Dusek of Reno, Nev., and George Dusek of Big Lake, Alaska; a stepdaughter, Elaine Amrhein of Coos Bay, Ore.; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Stellaverne Witwer; a daughter, Iyla Johnson; and two sisters. Donations may be made to Sutter United Methodist Church, P.O.
