Robert Snell, 87, a pioneer resident of Mansfield, died at his home Monday, Jan. 30, 1989. He was born Sept. 26, 1901, at Farmersville, Mo., to Mr. and Mrs. Milan Snell. He moved with his family to the Leahy area in 1905 where he grew up and attended school. He married Hazel M. Smart on Sept. 27, 1941, at Coeur D´Alene, Idaho, and they lived at Kalispell, Mont, until 1949 when they moved back to the Mansfield area to farm.
Mr. Snell was a member of the Mansfield Grange and was an active ham radio operator using call letter W7BHP. During World War II he served with Civil Air Patrol. Survivors include three sons, Richard of Butte, Mont., Tom of Mansfield and Gary of Portland; two daughters, Berverly Nevin of Spokane and Betty Hansen of Bridgeport; and nine grandchildren. He was preced in death by his wife Jan. 17, 1989.
A funeral service for Mr. Snell was held Feb. 4 at the United Protestant Church at Mansfield.
