First Call: W7DOP
Name: Dan Marion Molver
Born: 22 Jul 1916
Died: 7 Dec 2008
Dan was a radio man in the army, and documents indicate that he was a 'marksman'. He was stationed for a while at Fort Stevens, Oregon, and he recalled with laughter, having been there when a Japanese sub was spotted just off the coast.
He was one of four brothers (the other three were Kenneth, Vern and Mickey). Dan had two children (Danny and Donna) with his wife, Phyllis Jean (Myers), and was stepfather to Judith Ann.
He was a ham radio operator most of his adult life, as a hobby, and loved speaking with people all over the world. He was a member of the Al Kader Shrine Club, or 'a Shriner'. He was also a long-standing member of the Masonic Lodge, and very much enjoyed dressing up in his "tux". He was a very kind-hearted, quiet and extremely modest person with a great sense of humor. He loved marching band music and polka music. He laughed at TV shows like 'Hogan's Heroes' and 'McHale's Navy', and 'The Carol Burnett Show'. He worked for Pacific Power & Light Co. in Albany, Oregon, first on a line repair crew, and much later as a meter reader. He loved animals and once brought home to the family, in his lunchbox from work, a puppy that had been in danger beside a road as his line crew was doing repairs.
He was a son of Daniel Molver and Marguerite DuPee, and raised his family in Albany, Oregon. He later moved to Yachats, Oregon, and later still, Newport, Oregon. He loved the sight of the ocean.
Dan passed away in a care facility in Corvallis, Oregon, when he was 92. Everyone in the care facility loved him.
Four brothers, Ken, Vern, Mickey and Dan order unknown
