August 1, 1926 - January 12, 2011 Marion H. 'Buck' Strickland, Jr., 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 in Bellingham, Washington. He was born August 1, 1926 in Barnsdall, Oklahoma to Marion H. Strickland, Sr. and Merle Gladys Woods.

While at the University of Tulsa he met his future wife, Mary. They had recently celebrated 60 years of marriage.

Buck served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He and Mary moved to Bellingham in 1956, where he worked as a studio engineer for KVOS-TV for 29 1/2 years.

Buck had many interests in life, such as ham radio, fishing and woodcarving, and was a member of many clubs and associations including the American Theater Organ Society, the Mt. Baker Amateur Radio Club, Masonic Lodge #151, the NRA, and the Bellingham Dixieland Jazz Society. He had been a member of First Baptist Church since moving to Bellingham.

Buck is survived by the family he loved: wife Mary; daughters Linda (Karl) Peterson, Patty (Dwight - deceased) Kline, and Carol (Dale) Kloes; granddaughters Susan (Travis) Tripp, Laurie (Sean) Moran, and Jayna Kline; great-grandchildren Tavien and Avrielle Tripp and Bergen Moran.

A private family graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery. A public memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 22nd at 2:00pm at Bellingham First Baptist Church, with reception to follow in the social hall.

Thank you to all the staff of Shuksan Healthcare Center for the wonderful care they gave to Buck for so many months. Memorials may be made to: First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, Lighthouse Mission, or Whatcom Hospice.
