Milton Laurence MacLafferty, 67, of 18 SW Clay Street, died in a Walla Walla hospital Saturday morning.
MacLafferty was born June 23, 1899, in this state. He married his wife, Ethel Marie, in September 1929 near caldwell, Idaho. They owned and operated Mac's Radio and T.V. in College Place since March 1947. From 1931 when radio station KUJ was established until 1958, MacLafferty was its chief engineer.
During WW II, MacLaffertys were almost the only radio technicians here. It meant work around the clock. They worked together in a Walla Walla radio shop. She sewed in the alterations department of a local store. He worked at the radio station afternoons until midnight. They also kept the city police radios in repair. Beside his wife, he is survived by a son, W. Stanley MacLafferty of Walla Walla, and a daughter, Mrs. Bette M. Geary of San Diego, California. he is also survived by 5 grandchildren. He is a member of the Seventh day Adventist Church.; Kiwanis Club of College Place, and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
