Graveside services for Harold "Bud" Mason Roberts, 90, formerly of Newcastle, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Pisgah Cemetery with the Rev. Thomas Kadera officiating.
Mr. Roberts died Monday, May 9, 2005, in Phoenix of natural causes.
He was born to Carrie and Mason Roberts on Oct. 29, 1915, in Deadwood, SD He was raised and educated in Custer, SD, as well as Newcastle.
He served in the Merchant Marines during World War I. When he returned from the service, he moved to Cheyenne with his wife, Ellen (Culivan) Roberts and his son.
Mr. Roberts was employed with KFBC Radio and as an instrument man with Frontier Oil until his retirement in 1986. He spent many hours operating his ham radio, with the call letters W7HLA.
Mr. Roberts is survived by two daughters, Natalie Hewitt of Phoenix and Suzanne Mason of Marietta, Ga.; two sisters, Ruth Hopkins of Scottsbluff, Neb., and Ruby Coleman of Valentine, Neb.; 11 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two sons, Terry Roberts and Albert Roberts; and one sister, Pearle Grieves.
Memorials may be made in his name to the charity of one's choice.
