A memorial celebration for Wayne E. Milburn, 84, of Coos Bay will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at Ocean Ridge Assisted Living, 1855 SE Ocean Blvd., in Coos Bay. Cremation rites were held at Ocean View Crematory in Coos Bay.
Wayne, devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away May 13, 2013, in Coos Bay. He was born July 25, 1928, in Kewanee, Ill., the son of Cecil H. and Dorothy Alexander (Cummings) Milburn.
He graduated from Kewanee High School in 1948. He later graduated from Valparaiso Technical Institute in Valparaiso, Ind., in 1950.
His first job took him to Rawlins, Wyo. A transfer then moved him to Rock Springs, Wyo., where he worked at a local radio station. This is where he met his wife and lifelong companion, Alice M. Cantlin. She was a nurse at the local hospital. They were married Aug. 30, 1952, in Rock Springs. Work took them to Denver, Colo., where Wayne worked in radio and TV broadcast until 1956. He then went to work for the Federal Aviation Administration where his first assignment took him back to Rawlins. In 1958, a transfer moved him and his family to Lakeview, Ore. The final transfer in 1960 took him to Klamath Falls, where he worked until his retirement in 1982.
His wife of 54 years passed away in June 2007. Wayne remained in Klamath Falls until 2010, when he moved to Coos Bay to be close to his daughter.
He was involved in the Masonic Lodge, 32nd Degree Mason, and Eastern Star. Other interests included amateur radio, private pilot and photography.
Wayne is survived by his two children: son, Loyd and Corazon Milburn of Bremerton, Wash.; and daughter, Joyce Walter of North Bend.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, parents and two sisters.
