Published in The Skagit Valley Herald, Mount Vernon, WA November 6, 2016. February 15, 1923-November 2, 2016 Faustino "Gus" Cecotti, 93, of Mount Vernon, WA passed away on November 2, 2016. He was surrounded by family and loved ones at the time of his passing.Gus was born February 15, 1923 in Mount Vernon to Louie and Angelina Cecotti. Gus graduated from Mount Vernon High School. During World War II Gus worked at Boeing where he installed radio equipment on B-17's for the war effort. After World War II he enlisted in the military and served during the Korean Conflict. He started and operated an excavation and construction company with Lawrence Morrison which they ran together until Lawrence passed away. After Lawrence passed Gus reformed the company and continued to operate his commercial excavation company in northwest Washington until he retired in 1998.Gus enjoyed being a ham radio operator out of his home throughout his entire life. His other love was boating and he was a member of the LaConner Yacht Club. He loved his boat the Poseidon. Gus was a lifetime member of the Mount Vernon Elks Club and was also a member of the Moose Club. Gus was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann, parents Louie and Angelina and his infant sister Rena. He is also preceded in death by his sister Elsie of Burlington.He is survived by his brother Gino and his Lola and many nieces and nephews.A special thanks to the many caregivers and hospice who helped Gus and the family through this difficult time. A graveside service will be held at Hawthorne Memorial Park in Mount Vernon on November 12, 2016 at 1pm. A reception will follow at 2pm at the Mount Vernon Elks Club.Arrangements are under the care of Hawthorne Funeral Home, Mount Vernon. |
