Eugene Harold Epperle, 72, died May 27, 2003, at his home in Cody.
He was born July 14, 1930, in Pasadena, Calif., the son of Eugene Harold and Marzette Storer Epperle Sr.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps 1951-59 and in Korea 1951-52 [Korean service medal].
On June 8, 1952, he married Melba Elizabeth Linder WA7UPK in Rio Linda, Calif. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2002.
Mr. Epperle spent 50 years in the music business and was inducted into the Western Swing Hall of Fame in 1985. He spent several years, while raising seven children, in the electronics business. He had a family band 1971-95 and was in motel management 1982-96.
His most important priority was his family, and they were at his bedside at his passing. He never met a person he didn't call friend, and he leaves many friends to remember him.
He enjoyed amateur radio, radio-controlled airplanes, country swing bands and steel guitar, family, camping, fishing and public service.
He was a member of the Marine Corps League, Cedar Mountain Amateur Radio Club and Western Swing Hall of Fame. During his military career he received numerous medals.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Gerald, William and Joseph Epperle.
Cremation and a private family service have taken place.
