GOSK, Edward F. Sr. (age 85) born November 18, 1919 in Curtisville, PA; passed away July 10, 2005 in Spokane. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret, of Spokane; five children: Edward Gosk, Jr. of Spokane, Patricia (John) O'Leary of Naperville, IL, Kathleen (Mike) Murphy of Spokane, Margaret Lockhart of Spokane, Monica (Marty) Kosmicki of Highland Ranch, CO; nine grandchildren: Chris, Lisa, Matthew, Jennifer, Jason, Michelle, Kevin, Allison, Drew; five great grandchildren: Ashley, Brooke, Abigail, Mackenzie, Zachary.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Theresa in 1960.
Edward was a resident of the Spokane area for 60 years and a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. He was a member of the VFW, DAV, and the Amateur Radio Operator Club, and was a ham operator.
He was a radio operator in a B-17 Bomber in the Pacific Theatre during WWII, fought in the Battle of Midway and received a Silver Star for gallantry. He taught radio school at Patterson Air Base, Colorado Springs, Colorado and then at Mountain Home Air Base, Idaho.
He retired from Kaiser Aluminum after 35 years of service. He helped construct the Science Exposition Building in Seattle in 1961. Edward was a loving and caring family man and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 17 from 1:00 to 5:00 at the funeral home. A Vigil Service will be held Sunday, July 17 at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, July 18, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 545 E. Providence. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, 7200 N. Wall. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a Veterans' organization of your choice.
