First Call: W7LCS
Toddy Therese NYE (W7LCS) Passed away peacefully at Columbia Lutheran Home on Tuesday, November 12, 2002 at 93 years of age. She was born in Seattle September 14, 1909 to Hannah Nolan McPhee and Michael McPhee.
Toddy was a licensed Ham Radio Operator, believed to be one to the first women licensed Ham Operators in Washington State. She lived in West Seattle where she taught and performed Hawaiian Dancing for many years. Although she had no children of her own (a probable reason for her longevity), she was a matriarch of sorts as a second mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to several generations of her extended family. She was known for her sense of humor, liveliness, and outgoing personality.
She was always doing something to help with, care for, and teach children. Her life's work was reflected in service and countless acts of love to her friends and family.
Her husband of 60 years, William A. Nye (W6LXP, Bill Nye, the Radio Guy) preceded her in death in March 2001.
She is survived by her sister, Helen Sagerdahl, of Burlingame, California. In addition, she is survived by several nieces and nephews, Linda Goldman and Lana Scott, both of California, Gerald Sagerdahl of North Carolina, Patricia Anderson, Marilyn Pearson, Sheila Syverson, Mary-Jo Tapp and Michael Wanwig, all of Washington State. She is also survived by numerous great and great great nieces and nephews.
Toddy will be truly missed by her many friends and family.
Memorial Service will be Saturday, November 23rd, at 1 p.m. at St. John United Lutheran Church. Hoffner Fisher & Harvey.
Remembrances may be made to St. John United Lutheran Church, 5515 Phinney Ave. N., Seattle, WA 98103; or
Columbia Lutheran Home, 4700 Phinney Ave. N., Seattle, WA 98103.
