Delbert "Del" H. Walpole, 73, of Shelton died April 8, 1998, at his home. He was born Jan. 13, 1925, in Napa, Calif. He attended Bob Jones College in Tennessee for almost four years, Eastern Oregon College of Education in LaGrande, Ore. from 1947 to 1949, and the FBI Academy in Quantico, Va. in 1975. On June 2, 1947, he married Frances Rice Walpole in Ozone, Tenn. Mr. Walpole served in the Navy from 1942 to 1946, and in the Air Force Reserve from 1951 to 1971. He also worked as a sheriff for many years. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Flint of Bremerton, John of Portland, Ore., and Brooks of Gig Harbor; one brother, Marvin of Santa Barbara, Calif.; two sisters, Emma of Woodburn, Ore. and Carroll Cole of McMinnville, Ore.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. April 18, at Northside Baptist Church, E. 50 Island Lake Rd. in Shelton. Arrangements are under the direction of McComb Funeral Home.
