Jack, 92, of Reno, NV was the son of Charles and Fern Mae (Robinson) Prenderville. He was born in Los Angeles.
In WWII he served as a radio operator in the Army Air Corps (Brown Shoes). He participated in 7 major campaigns from North Africa to France, dropping 82nd and 101st Airborne, ferrying gas to Patton and evacuating injured on return flights.
Between campaigns, Jack was in a band that the Red Cross hired to entertain troops on R & R on Isle of Capri, in England and in France. Shortly after Glenn Miller died, his orchestra performed in Paris, where Jack's band played alternating sets with them.
After 30 months overseas he returned to Chicago to marry Ann DeStefano. They had 3 children (Judi, Charlie and John, who survive him). Ann preceded him in death.
Jack worked with the Edison Power Company in California and Sierra Power in Nevada.
After retirement, he sold mutual funds and insurance, traded commodities, and owned and managed real estate holdings and ran a personnel business.
On weekends, he played organ for Eastern Star events and trumpet for local gigs. He currently played with the Grumpy Old Men weekly at the Senior Center on 9th and Sutro in Reno and danced on Friday nights with the Senior Dance Club of Reno.
A memorial service was held on March 22, 2014 in Reno. He will be interred in the Veterans' Cemetery in Fernley, Nevada on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 1 P.M., with a Military Honor Guard.
