Glenn Roberts Page Thayer was born on August 25, 1914, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Glenn Page and Blanche E. (nee Roberts) Thayer.
A graduate of Massachusetts Radio School, he was chief operator of WLNH, Laconia, N. H., and before that was with WJIM, Lansing, Michigan. In 1937, he joined the engineering staff of WOWO and WGL, Fort Wayne, Indiana. In 1948, when secretary-treasurer of Radio Fort Wayne, Inc., he was appointed general manager of the company's new station in Fort Wayne, WANE.
Glenn married Ruth Elizabeth Van Campen, and on May 20, 1949, Glenn Roberts Thayer Jr. was born to them in Ft Wayne. He was their second child, with an older sister named Drue. Twelve years later, the family moved to Defiance, Ohio, where Glenn was the general manager and chief engineer for WONW Radio Station.
Glenn passed away on June 1, 2000, in Brookfield, Wisconsin. He was buried in the family plot at Woodlawn Cemetery in Grand Rapids.
