Harrison Birth Date:17 Mar 1922 Issue Year:Before 1951 Issue State:Missouri Last Residence:21044, Columbia, Howard, Maryland Death Date:13 Jul 2005 Benjamin Franklin Harrison, 83, died July 13, 2005 at Harmony Hall Assisted Living in Columbia, Md.Benjamin was born in Bethany on March 17, 1922 to Nelson Burr Harrison and Eunice Link Harrison.Mr. Harrison left home as a young man to study new radio technology in Kansas City.After joining the Navy during World War II, Mr. Harrison met his wife, Janice Cordelia Barnett, in Washington, D.C. while working on a special project for the Navy in support of the war.Mr. Harrison worked as an aviation electronics technician with the Navy, retiring in 1964 from Patuxent River Naval Air Station as a Chief Petty Officer.After the Navy, Mr. Harrison moved his family to Laurel, Md., where he worked for and retired from the Federal Communications Commission in Guilford, Md.Along with his wife, Janice and son, Chris, Mr. Harrison moved to Romney, W. Va., in 1977. Illness forced his move to Columbia in 2004.As a life long Ham Radio Operator, Mr. Harrison had contacted every continent. He belonged to the Ham Radio Operator's Club in Romney, W. Va., and used his time to instruct others for their FCC license. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Janice Cordelia Harrison, four children, Judith Thomasson of Cavalier, N.D., Kathryn Harrison of Laurel, Md., N. Keith Harrison of Columbia, Md., Christopher Harrison of Sterling, Va. Along with seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and in-laws Cindy Harrison of Columbia, Md., Ralph Thomasson of Cavalier, N.D., and Steven Williams of Laurel, Md.His sister Marjorie Tyler and Brother, Cecil Harrison, both of Missouri, preceded Mr. Harrison in death.Donations in Mr. Harrison's name will be accepted at Hospice of Howard County, 5537 Twin Knolls Road Suite 433, Columbia, Md. 21045.Internment with military honors will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date. |
