Carl was born on April 7, 1935 and passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2019. Carl was a 1953 graduate of Pennsboro High School in Pennsboro, W. Va., and attended West Liberty Marietta College and Terra Technical College. Visitation will be from Noon to 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 16, 2019, at the Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419)-447-3113, with a Memorial service at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Marilyn Coney officiating. Burial will be private in Pleasant Union Cemetery, Old Fort at a later date. Carl E. Nay, 84, of Tiffin, passed away at 2:08 a.m. Thursday, December 12, 2019, at Mercy Health Tiffin Hospital.
Carl was born April 7, 1935, in Pullman, West Virginia to S. Evert and Viola M. (Stull) Nay. He married Mary Louise Barnes and they were the parents of four sons. They divorced and he later married Mary Jo Barto, May 25, 1974, in Tiffin.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, four sons, Mark (Barb) Nay Corvallis, Ore., Joe (Lori) Nay, Gregory L. Nay, and Paul E. (Barbara) Nay all of Salisbury Md.; two granddaughters, three grandsons, a great grandson and a niece Judy Traister of Pittsburgh.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Carson R. Nay and K. Rex Nay.
Carl was a 1953 graduate of Pennsboro High School in Pennsboro, W. Va., and attended West Liberty Marietta College and Terra Technical College. He began his working career for Monongahela Power Company in W. Va. as a lineman for 14 years. He then worked for Westinghouse in Salisbury, Md., and moved to Tiffin in 1973 to work for American Electric Power until 1995. He retired after 22 years. He was a licensed Amateur Radio operator for over 50 years with his original call of K8VQG, later changed to W8NAY. He enjoyed camping with his wife and they traveled extensively throughout the United States in their motor home. He loved reading, woodworking, wood carving, and puttering in his garage. He was a member of ARRL, Allen Eiry Center, and Faith United Methodist Church.
