William Nicholas Genematas 93, of Harrisburg and formerly of Grosse Pointe Shores, MI, died Wednesday, November 27, 2013 in his residence.
He was the retired owner/operator of Marathon Linen Service, Inc., Detroit, MI and a US Army veteran of WWII. He was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Camp Hill, the American Radio Relay League, Rotary Club of Hamtramck, MI, World Medical Relief, Detroit, MI, the Detroit Economic Club and a former member of Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, St. Claire, MI. William was born in Highland Park, MI to the late Nicholas William and Marie (Sequin) Genematas.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Nicholas William Genematas, II. He is survived by his wife of more than 68 years, Nina (Spear) Genematas; his daughter, Mariann G. Ernst and husband, Dr. Brett Ernst of Harrisburg and four grandchildren, William Nicholas Genematas, II, Sarah Andrene Genematas, Alexandra Marie Ernst and Victoria Noel Ernst.
Local Services will include a Viewing from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2013 followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. in PARTHEMORE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, New Cumberland.
Additional services in Michigan will include a Viewing from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 6, 2013 in Verheyden Funeral Home, 16300 Mack Ave. Grosse Pointe Park, MI 48230, Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 21800 Marter Rd. St. Clair Shores, MI 48080 and burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Detroit, MI.
