ANDREW SHAFER, W8TE, New Carlisle, Ohio, has had an interesting career. He is in Civil Service with the Dept. of the Air Force, Dayton, and his interest in amateur wireless dates back to 1910. Originally 8TE, Andy attended Dodge Institute and was a commercial op for the Marconi Co., Independent W.T. Co., then RCA. A cost accontant, he attended Miami University (Ohio) and Ohio State U. He is a member of VWOA, F and AM, and AASR. He retired from Defense Electronic Supply Agency in October 1963.
