JAMES SANDERSON age 98, entered into rest December 23, 2018. Born September 6, 1920 in Roseville, Illinois, he was married to Leoramae (Mead) for 74 years.
He is survived by daughters Karen (Ray-dec) Colleary, Carol (Joseph) Wallace, and son David (Sally) Sanderson, 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy. Kirk was employed by NBC/WKYC for 35 years as a Technical Director.
He was an avid ham radio operator with the call letters W8WNA and made many friends through the Odd Fellows Ham Radio Club รข travelling to visit many of them. Kirk was a member of IOOF Lodge #675 in Brecksville since 1952 and in 1991 was elected Grand Master of the IOOF of Ohio.
He also volunteered with his church, the YMCA, and the Brecksville VA Hospital as well as the American Legion and served a 5 year term as Secretary of the Broadview Heights Civil Service Commission.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Brecksville United Church of Christ, 23 Public Square. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Salvation Army or the Brecksville United Church of Christ.
