Ivan J. Makovec, 94, of Beloit, WI, died Wednesday, May 23, 2018 in Alden Meadow Park Health Care Center, Clinton.
He was born March 11, 1924 in Stevens Point, WI, the son of John M. and Margaret (Lekie) Makovec. Ivan was a 1942 graduate of Beloit High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. Catholic Church, Beloit, WI.
Ivan was formerly employed by Fairbanks Morse, Warner Electric and retired from Beloit Corporation in 1987. He was a founding member of the Greater Beloit Amateur Radio Club. Ivan was a member of the V.F.W. Post 2306 and participated in putting flags out in the cemetery for Veterans Day and Memorial Day. He was a former member of the Beloit Civil Defense Squad.
Survivors include his wife; children; grandchildren; sister; and a niece. He was predeceased by his parents.Funeral Mass of Christian Burial for Ivan will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2018 in Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 2222 Shopiere Road, Beloit, WI, with Fr. Michael Resop officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. Wednesday in the Church. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements.
