William (Bill) Haase, 96, died on June 22, 2015, in Lakewood, CO. William was born April 19, 1919 to Circuit Court Judge William and Laura Haase of Marinette, WI.
William graduated from Marinette High School. He was also a World War II veteran and Vice President of the Wisconsin Bill Telephone Company (AT&T). As a veteran of WWII, he served in the Army Air Corps as a B-17 Flying Fortress pilot. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross and four battle stars for participation in campaigns in Europe. He also received the Air Medal with 4 oak leaf clusters. He was a Squadron Operations Officer who commanded a crew of ten officers and enlisted men in operational flights. Upon his return from the war, he graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison as an electrical engineer. He worked for the Wisconsin Bell Telephone Company in engineering, moving from Marinette to Milwaukee, where he retired as Vice President in Engineering after 44 years of service in 1987.
He is survived by his daughter Christine Stratton of Lakewood, CO, and grandchildren Amy (Jake) Richardson of Lakewood, CO, and Christopher Stratton of Gillette, WY, and two great-grandchildren: William and Kenzi Richardson. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jean Thompson Haase, from Menominee, MI, and his parents Circuit Court Judge William and Laura Haase and his brother Robert Haase, all from Marinette, WI.
He spent his retirement between Punta Gorda, FL, and Winter, WI, fishing, golfing and woodworking. Hospice played an important part in his final care.
He will be interned at the Forest Home Cemetery in Marinette, WI.
