He was born Oct. 28, 1918, the son of Thurman Weddel and Mayme Wakeman Weddel in Keya Paha County, Neb. He married Ruth Dodd in 1943; they divorced in 1977. He later married Joan Reinschmidt.
Survivors include one daughter, Tina Weddell of Charleston; three grandsons; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, one half-brother and both wives.
Mr. Weddell was formerly employed in refrigeration. He served in the Navy. He was a member of the Westfield (Kansas) Masonic Lodge.
A private interment will be held at a later date. The National Cremation Society in Ft. Charlotte, FL is in charge of the arrangements.
