RAYMOND "RAY" YERANKO, 88, of Fort Wayne, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003, at Hospice Home of Northeast Indiana.
Born in Huntington, he was employed at Magnavox for nearly 45 years, retiring in 1978, as director of service and consumer affairs for their consumer products division.
He was a charter member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, a member of Knights of Columbus Council 451, a past president of the Magnavox Quarter Century Club, the Magnavox chapter of the National Association of Foremen, the National Association of Service Managers, and the service division of the Electronic Industries Association.
He was a licensed amateur radio operator, W9JOQ, since 1932. He was a Lions Club member for over 50 years, and most recently past president and member of the Anthony Wayne Lions Club. In 1998, he was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellow plaque by Lions International for outstanding service to his community.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice; a son, Frank of Fort Wayne; daughters, Rose Ann Griswold of Fort Wayne, Martha Strauss of Indianapolis, and Elaine Boner of Dayton, Ohio; two sisters, Helen Keefer and Bernadette Thieme, both of Fort Wayne; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn, in 1984.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, with one hour of visitation prior, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Road. Calling is from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road. Burial at Catholic Cemetery. Preferred memorials to Visiting Nurse Service's Hospice Home of Northeast Indiana or Masses.
