Robert Albert Glamm, 98, of Greenwood, died on Sunday, May 28, 2017, in Greenwood. He was born on December 12, 1918, in Chicago, Illinois, to his parents, Albert and Katherine Glamm.

He worked for Western Electric and retired from the Army Reserves, as a Master Sargent. As a young man, straight out of high-school, he went to work at Western Electric. He then enlisted in the Navy, as a radio operator, where is served in the Pacific Theatre. Upon being honorably discharged, he went back to Western Electric, until he enlisted in the Army Reserves. Robert was a Pearl Harbor survivor and was a member of the Pearl Harbor Veterans Organization. He was a licensed pilot and enjoyed flying. Robert loved being an amateur ham radio operator. He obtained he ham license, in 1934, and had the distinction of holding the longest continuous license, in the United States, at 83 years. Robert enjoyed dancing and was a very good dancer.

Robert is survived by his children, David Robert (Kay) Glamm of Bargersville, Mary Ellen (Leslie) Helmrich of Wauwatosa, WI. Joan (Mark) Poppe of Sheboygan, WI. And Steven (Becky) Glamm of Cedarburg, WI.; ten grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and several siblings.

A memorial service is being held at 2:00 p.m. at Aspen Trace, 3154 South SR 135 Greenwood, In. 46143 on Tuesday, June 6th. Arrangements have been entrusted to Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel.
