Rex E. Thomas, 93, of West Lafayette, died Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at St. Elizabeth East hospital.
Born Dec. 28, 1917, in Monon, he was the son of the late William Jasper and Verna Florence Cox Thomas. He graduated from Monon High School and attended Purdue University.
Mr. Thomas was a real estate broker for Bouwkhamp Realty for 10 years, retiring in 1977. Before that he was a technician in quality control at Alcoa for 35 years.
On Sept. 20, 1958, he married Mary F. Leuther in Lafayette, and she survives.
Mr. Thomas was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Alcoa Retirees Club, a 50-year member of Elks Lodge 143, Tippecanoe Lodge 492 F&AM, Scottish Rite of Indianapolis, John Purdue Club and the President's Council. He was a licensed amateur radio operator (W9WQS) since 1954 .
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Thomas.
Visitation one hour prior to the 2 p.m. service Monday at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Father Tim Alkire will officiate. Burial at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Hippensteel Funeral Home entrusted with care.
