Paul Bernard Trainor, 94, of Pontiac, a Blackstone native, died at 9:45 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19, 2001, at his residence.
Born Oct. 9, 1907, in Blackstone, he was the son of Joseph T. and Mary Ann (McGuire) Trainor. He married Mary A. Littleton on June 18, 1940, in Kinmundy. She preceded him in death.
He is survived by sons, David E. (Paulette) Trainor of West Chicago, Gary Trainor of Pontiac and Terry Trainor of Chicago; daughters, Paula T. (Mrs. David) Rosenbaum of Pontiac and Debra A. (Mrs. Mike) Held of Meade, Colo.; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dan Trainor; eight brothers; and a sister.
He attended rural grade school and graduated from Streator High School. He also attended Val Tech in Valparaiso, Ind.
He served in the United States Army from March 13, 1941, to April 15, 1946, (serving in World War II). He was a signal guard and a master sergeant.
He was a radio communications supervisor for the State of Illinois for 37 years.
He was a member of Knights of Columbus, American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), Livingston County Historical Society, Amateur Ham Radio Operators, a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pontiac and Associated Public Safety Communications Officers.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pontiac. The Rev. Thomas Mack will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Pontiac.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday at Duffy Funeral Home in Pontiac. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.
