Last Residence: 62501, Argenta, Illinois Death Date: 16 Mar 2010 OAKLEY - Thomas "Tom" Eugene Fulk, 88, of Oakley, IL, died at 2:40 P.M., Tuesday, March 16, 2010, in the home of his daughter Rosemary, who lovingly cared for him the last six months of his life. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 20, at Oakley Brick Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. Dennis McClure officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in Cerro Gordo Cemetery, Cerro Gordo, IL. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Cerro Gordo, IL will be handling the arrangements. Tom was born December 29, 1921 to Cecil and Bernice Litchenberger Fulk in their home in rural Oakley. He was a 1940 graduate of Argenta High School. Tom was a member of the Oakley Brick Church of the Brethren for more than 50 years. He farmed most of his life and retired from Archer Daniels Midland Co. in 1982 after 30 years of service. Gifted at repairing anything mechanical, he enjoyed camping, traveling to state and national parks and playing 42. He was an avid ham radio operator for 55 years with the handle W9ZMH. Tom also loved his family, marrying Mary Elizabeth Baker of LaPlace on January 12, 1943. She preceded him in death on August 4, 2009. Surviving are his sons, Roger (Kathy) Eugene Fulk of Ballston Spa, NY; Randal Clayton Fulk of Champaign, IL; Andrew (Theresa) Wayne Fulk of Oakley, IL; daughter Rosemary (Sam) Ann Brandenburg of Milmine, IL; sisters Dorothy McConkey of Mt. Zion, IL; Betty Newel and Joan (Jim) Ludwick of Decatur, IL; Judy (Larry) Varvil of Elbert, CO; brother, Bobby Fulk of Mt. Zion, IL. He was also survived by 10 grandchildren, Roger (Lisa) Fulk Jr. of Ballston Spa, NY; Scott (Kristy) Fulk of Ballston Lake, NY; William Fulk of Lewisville, TX; Jennifer (Brian) Lehman of Vermont, IL; Tom (Michell) Brockman of Warrensburg, IL; Nicholas (Kimberly) French of Lebanon, IL; Samuel and Austin Brandenburg of Milmine, IL; Sarah Fulk of Astoria, IL; Debra Fulk of Oakley, IL; and 16 great grandchildren. Tom was also preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Mary Ann Brandenburg and his beloved dog, Taffy.
