Stephen O. May, age 66, of Lincoln, died Thursday, April 12, 2012. He was born on December 21, 1945 in East Moline, Ill., to Harold and Mildred (Geisler) May. He graduated in 1964 from Hampton Community High School, Hampton, Iowa. He received his Associate Degree from Mason City Junior College, Mason City, Iowa, in 1966. In December of 1966 he was drafted into the U.S. Army Signal Corps and served a six-month tour in Vietnam from May to October 1968. He obtained the rank of Specialist 4th Class. On April 8th, 1967 he married Dianna Selene in Hampton, Iowa, and celebrated 45 years of marriage last week.
Stephen was employed by Honeywell until November 1989, when he became self-employed as a computer consultant, which he continued until his death. Former board member of the American Red Cross and March of Dimes. Member of Lincoln Amateur Radio Club, Blue Valley Amateur Radio Club, West Valley (AZ) Amateur Radio Club, Quarter Century Wireless Association, life member of the American Radio Relay League, and American Legion Post #3. Licensed as Amateur Radio Operator WAASM for 50 years.
Survived by: Wife, Dianna J. of Lincoln; Daughter & son-in-law, Kristine and Frederick Williams of Iowa City, Iowa; Son & daughter-in-law, Kurt and Ami May of Lincoln; Grandchildren, Liam Williams, Brandon and Trista May; Brother, Lowell May of Denver, Colo.; Brother-in-law & spouse, Alan and MaryBeth Selene of Madison, Wis.; Nieces, Wendy Selene and Jessica Selene of Des Moines, Iowa, and Jessica's children, Austin and Olivia. Preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial Service 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 17, 2012, Sheridan Lutheran Church, 6955 Old Cheney Road. Interment Lincoln Memorial Park. Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Memorials in care of the family.
