WITKOWSKI, Mary Lorraine
Mary Lorraine Witkowski, 82, of Manchester, formerly of Windsor Locks and Sun City Center, FL, beloved wife of Leonard J. Witkowski, died peacefully on Monday, (August 25, 2008) at a local convalescent home. Born on July 31, 1926 in Springfield, MA, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Scannell) Sosville.
Lorraine was a graduate of the High School of Commerce and went on to study accounting at Northeast University.
Lorraine was married to Leonard on July 2, 1949 and together they settled in Windsor Locks, where they lived for over 48 years.
She worked in accounting, for the Hamilton Standard Federal Credit Union.
Lorraine was a licensed amateur Ham radio operator a hobby she enjoyed for many years. Lorraine was responsible for helping to keep up communications in the aftermath of the Windsor Locks tornado. She was also an avid mineral collector, loved to travel and was a member of the Hartford Audubon Society.
Besides her husband Leonard, of 59 years, she leaves a daughter, Maryellen Sharples and her husband Frank of Somers; a sister, Joan Bedard of Suffield; a brother, Richard Sosville and his wife Gene of Breckenridge, CO, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Gemme and a brother-in-law, Valmore Bedard.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 446 Mountain Rd., Suffield. Burial will follow in Somers Center Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
