Manchester-born Michael Jack Kane, who happily thrived at the Ridgewood Center in Bedford, NH for much of the past four years, passed away peacefully at age 69 on the evening of June 12, 2021 at the Elliott Hospital in Manchester, NH. Michael was beloved by everyone whose life he ever touched. Michael dealt with many challenges his entire life, but when not under stress, his face always lit up with a wonderful sweet wide-eyed smile. There was a sparkle in his eye whenever he encountered the many people he counted as friends and his family. A truly kind and loving soul, Michael never ever spoke ill of anyone in any manner, despite having to endure the indignities of society's response to those struggling with their mental health. Ham/amateur radio was a lifelong passion and source of pride and self-actualization for Michael, and through it, he connected with people all over the world. When he lived at the Carpenter Center elderly housing, he found an incredible community and joy at the Manchester Christian Church, where he stood and sang on-stage every Thanksgiving together with his beloved Pastor Bo. Michael will be very deeply missed by his twin sister Ellen/Ellie and his brother-in-law David and by his brother Jerry and his sister-inlaw Irene, as well as by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and all their families, and by countless friends. Michael was predeceased by his parents Sara and Maurice Kane and his brother Barry Kane. A graveside service will be held at the Manchester Hebrew Cemetery at 316 South Beech Street at 11 am on Sunday, June 20, Durning, Bykowski, & Young Funeral Home and Rabbi Gary Atkins Officiating.
