Walter J. Borowski Jr., 72, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died Sunday at Geisinger Community Medical Center after an illness. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Ann Biedrycki. Born on April 7, 1949, son of the late Walter Sr. and Genevieve Kowalski Borowski, Walter was a graduate of Scranton Preparatory School, class of 1967. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Scranton before also earning his master's degree. He began his career as an educator, first teaching at his alma mater, Scranton Prep, before teaching at West Scranton Middle School. Prior to his retirement, he worked for the Social Security Administration in Scranton. A devout Roman Catholic, he was an active member of SS. Peter and Paul Parish in West Scranton where he served as a Eucharistic minister, altar server and lector. He also enjoyed being an amateur radio operator for many years. He'll be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his loved ones. He is also survived by his siblings, Joseph Borowski and wife, Dorie, Chalfont; and Ann Ginnetti and husband, Ronald, Langhorne; and nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 11 a.m. at SS. Peter and Paul Church, 1309 W. Locust St., West Scranton. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects at the church from 10 a.m. until Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SS. Peter and Paul Church, 1309 W.
