Michael Lynn Cowart, age 69 of Garland, TX, passed away December 29, 2017. He was born March 12, 1948, in Houston, TX, to Colbert Lawrence Cowart and Doris (Lawhon) Cowart. He married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Schultz, on August 16, 1969, in Dallas, TX. Mr. Cowart initially worked for Texas Instruments in Dallas, TX, then as an electrical engineer for E-Systems and Hewlett Packard. He was also a part time instructor for Dallas Community College Eastfield campus in Mesquite, TX. Mr. Cowart was an extra class Amateur radio operator call sign WA5CMI.
He is survived by his wife: Barbara Cowart of Garland, TX; sons: John David Cowart and wife Christine of San Diego, CA, and Mark Andrew Cowart and wife Traci of Forney, TX; brother: John Cowart and wife Anita of Tularosa, NM; sister: Alma Hedrick and husband Paul of Dallas, TX; five grandchildren: Philip Ryan Cowart, James Allen Cowart, KayLeigh Nicole Cowart, Ashlyn Renae Bell and Jansen Ames Cowart; and dear friends: John and Christy Thilmany. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of life will be held 2:00pm, Saturday, January 6, 2018, at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rowlett Chapel.
