It is with the utmost sadness that our family announces the passing of Robert Arthur Borlase on January 12, 2022. Robert Borlase was born March 31, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan, to Edward and Mary Louise Borlase. Bob was from a large family, one of six siblings. Bob started his life's adventure early on and in 1953 married the love of his life, whom he remained married to for over sixty-eight years. Diane followed Bob all over the country, a country that he so dutifully served in both the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Bob was a Master Chief Radioman, and even after retiring from the Coast Guard, he faithfully answered the radio call sign WA6LZN for years to come. After a decorated career in the military, Bob decided that he wanted to continue to serve and joined the Oklahoma County Sherrif's Office. Bob served the citizens of Oklahoma County for eighteen years before retiring; and during his service served as a first responder during the Alfred P. Murrah Bombing aftermath. After two full careers, Bob coasted into retirement where he was able to enjoy his true passions: traveling, being a member of a ham radio club, riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family. Bob liked to joke that he needed to have "manly" hobbies since he was the only man in a house with six other women. Anyone who was lucky enough to have known Bob knew that he absolutely adored his family. At the time of his passing, Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Diane Borlase; his brother, Alan Borlase and wife Pat; and his cherished daughters: Kim East and her husband Jim; Leslie Cavanaugh and her husband Doug; Tracy Walker and her husband Tom; Debbie Smith and her husband Vard; and Andrea Wheeler and her husband David. Bob was fortunate to be blessed with ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and the newest addition: a great-great-grandson. Services to celebrate Bob's life will take place on Monday, January 17, 2022, at 2pm at The Resurrection Memorial Cemetery. |
