First Call: WV6NLG in 1960
DONALD S. GRANTHAM, 86 Don passed away Sunday, February 26, 2012.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Bettie. Surviving children are Don (AZ), April (CA), and Jeanne (NV). Also survived by 11 grandchildren, 20 grand-children, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 3 children - Dickie, Vern, and Chris.
Born in San Francisco, California, on June 23, 1925, Don led an adventurous and full life. He hopped trains as a boy searching for his father, and he joined the Navy as a young man. He worked as a police officer in Azusa, truck driver, salesman, carpenter, enterperneur, and instructor.
He was passionate about his hobbies in ham radio, boating, and woodworking.
He also volunteered as an emergency responder for the Salvation Army and was a lifetime member of the NRA.
His beautiful skills with music included the guitar, piano, organ, horn, harmonica, and others.
But he was most passionate of all in his unwaivering faith in God and in his love for his wife and family. He was the rock of strength in our family and one of the last great cowboys.
His absence will leave a gaping hole in our hearts and our lives, but his legend will live on.
