Milton 'Mindy' F. Schauer of Selby died Friday, July 12, 1996 at the Mobridge Regional Hospital. He was 76 years old.
Milton was born March 25,1920 in Selby to John and Christian (Wagner) Schauer. He grew up on his parents farm four miles northwest of Selby. He attended Selby High School and graduated in 1938. Following graduation he farmed with his parents, and continued to run the family farm until he retired in 1985.
Milton loved to travel around the area and visit threshing bees. He was also very active in the Mobridge Amateur Radio Club after his retirement.
Milton was also a member of the St John Lutheran Church of Selby, a past member of the ASC Board, the Civil Air Patrol and German's from Russia Society.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Irma Steder and one brother, Gerhart 'Gary' Schauer.
Funeral services for Milton were held Tuesday at 10:30 am at St John Lutheran Church in Selby. The Rev. Lance Yohe officiated with the burial in the Selby Memorial Garden Cemetery under the direction of Larson's Funeral Home of Mobridge.
Organist was Peggy Gereau. Casketbearers were Neil Hettich, Larue 'Bucky' Moak, Carrol Brockel, Collin Brockel, Bill Rosin and Harley Brockel.
Honary casketbearers were Herbert Moak, Oscar 'Junior' Prasek, Olton Franks, Loren Moak, Allie Twete, Orville Ekrem Sr., Orville Ekrem Jr., and Calvin Bohle. Ushers were Brian Brockel and Ladean Moak.
