William C. Belt, 91, a resident of Carroll Lutheran Village, Westminster, MD, for the past ten years, died Sunday, March 13, 2016 at Carroll Hospital Center.
Born in Boring, MD on October 12, 1924, he was the son of the late Amos W. Belt, Sr. and Laura V. Rawlings Belt. He was the husband of Charlotte Conaway Belt, his wife of 53 years, who predeceased him on May 11, 1998.
A US Army veteran who served in Europe, he returned from active service and worked as a distributor for Koontz Creamery and Baltimore Sun and Baltimore News American. He enjoyed a 19 year career with the U.S. Postal Service, during which time he was named Postmaster of the Reisterstown office.
A lifelong member and past President of the Boring Volunteer Fire Company, he was elected to Baltimore County.s Volunteer Fireman.s Association Hall of Fame.
He was an active member of Boring United Methodist Church, the American Legion, Post 200 in Hampstead, and numerous amateur radio, journalism and press associations.
He was predeceased by siblings Ethel Belt, Mary Horton, D. Iantha Belt, M. Elizabeth Marshall, Amos W. Belt, Jr. and Verna B. Inman and by companion Mildred P. Waddell.
Family will receive friends at the Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown, MD on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 from 7-9pm and Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 10am-11am.
