Dr. Steven Edward "Steve" Hendrix, Ph.D
Christiansted, St. Croix, USVI - Dr. Steven Edward "Steve" Hendrix, Ph.D was born in Asheville on July 30, 1956 and passed away in Christiansted, St Croix, US Virgin Islands on December 8th, 2017. Steve earned his Ph.D in psychology and was a Professor at the University of the Virgin Islands. He previously taught at James Sprunt Community College in Wilmington, NC and was the former owner of the CO-Ed Theater in Brevard. Dr. Hendrix was also a former Asheville DJ and was a ham radio operator for many years as well as being an avid collector of classic cars and motorcycles. While living in the US Virgin Islands he worked to start a local radio station, WPRT, and was a grief and guidance counselor in addition to his teaching position. He loved teaching and he loved his students.
Steve was predeceased by his mother and stepfather Ann & James Goss of Asheville, father J. Alvin Hendrix of Travelers Rest, SC and his brother, John Edward McElrath. He is survived by his wife, Debbie of Christiansted along with his sister, Kathy Ballard and brother in law Terry of Asheville NC.
