John Paul Delaney, born in Boston, MA on July 23, 1920, passed into his new life on March 18, 2015.
Paul served with valor in the United States Navy during World War II from September 14, 1942 to January 23, 1946 and the Korean conflict from March 30, 1951 - April 29, 1952. He was awarded the Victory Medal WWII, Asiatic Pacific 5 Bronze Stars and the Philippine Liberation 1 Star.
Paul graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Degree in 1956. He was also a life time license Amateur Radio Operator authorized by the United States Federal Communications Commission with an expiration date of 2024. Paul also served with the Los Angeles Sheriff's department.
Paul's favorite pastime was reading and his love of books was exceeded only by his love of family.
Paul is survived by his wife, Helen Louise Delaney, married for 70 years. His two daughters, Sandee Sandoval and Cindy Mercer, son-in-law John Sandoval. Four grandchildren, Steven Paul Mills (Marcia), Stephanie Sandoval-Kahn (Brent), Megan Mercer, Matthew Mercer and three great grandchildren, Jadyn Kahn, Ryder Kahn and Tristan Mercer Cameron. Paul was devoted to his beloved dog Tiffany.
Paul was blessed to live independently for almost 95 years of his life.
A Memorial Service is to be held at Monte Vista Presbyterian Church, 3797 W Lynn Road, Newbury Park on Saturday April 18 at 1:00, with a celebration of life to immediately follow the services at the fellowship hall on the church premises.
