PRYOR, William F. Age 81, a native of Dayton, passed away February 10, 2015 after an extended illness.
William grew up in the East End of Dayton and educated in the Dayton Public School system. He served in the U. S. Air Force. He was a 33rd degree Mason and a Shriner of Amer Temple 107, and retired from GM/Inland Division after 35 years of service. During retirement, William worked for local funeral homes, including Bowman and McLin.
Mr. Pryor was an avid Ham radio operator; call letters WB8KMX. He was a member of OMIK, an association of African American Ham Radio Operators in OH, MI, IN and KY. He was also a member of the Dayton Amateur Radio Association and volunteered at the Dayton Hamvention for over 15 years.
Mr. Pryor was a former member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and attended Mt. Calvary and Bethel Baptist churches until his health prevented him from attending.
Preceded in death by his father, William Pryor Jr.; mother, Beatrice Dillard White; wife, Helen L. Pryor; daughter, Thresa Pryor. He will be sadly missed by his loving children, Jacqueline Roberts, Deborah (George) Bayard, Jeffrey (Kim) and Christopher Pryor; 10 grandchildren; neighbor of 50 years, Mrs. Virginia Taylor; a host of other relatives, childhood friends of the East End, many other friends and loved ones.
Funeral service will be held 1:30 pm Monday, February 16, 2015 at the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave. Pastor Joseph Baldwin officiating. Interment Woodland Cemetery. Visitation 9 am-12:30 pm. Family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 pm.
