Robert McLaughlin - 1920-2012
RUSH - Robert William McLaughlin, of Rush, formerly of Lincoln Park, Mich., passed away Friday, July 6, 2012, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
Mr. McLaughlin was born Oct. 14, 1920, in Wellsville, Ohio, son of Loys and Georgia McLaughlin.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Minnie Frances Ross McLaughlin; and his brothers, Dayton of Washington and Walter of Michigan, Ed of Wyoming; and sister, Pauline, of Michigan.
Bob retired from Great Lakes Steel of Ecorse, Mich., where he worked as an electrician. He was an amateur radio operator, who belonged to the River Cities Amateur Radio Club and a Mason. He joined the 3C's in 1936 at the age of 16 and served in the Pacific Theater of WWII in the US Army. He also enjoyed gardening and farming.
Survivors include a son, Robert R. of Seattle, WA; and a daughter, Lynn of Rush, formerly of Allen Park, MI; two grandchildren, Lauran of Ephrata, WA, and Michael, currently serving with the US Marine Corps; brothers, Don, Carlos and James, all of Ohio, Paul of Nevada, and Jack of Michigan.
Graveside service for Mr. McLaughlin will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at Ross Cemetery in Rush with military rites by Post 93 of Kenova, W.Va.
