Richard "Dick" G. Robbins Jr. passed away on Friday, January 15 of Covid-related illness. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on Aug. 3, 1931 to Richard G. Robbins Sr. and Dorothy Robbins. Dick came from a large extended family and spent much of his childhood hunting and fishing on the Robbins family farm in the nearby town of "Robbins Station", PA. Dick maintained a love for those activities throughout his life. Dick was very close with his older sister Suzanne Robbins (Barnes) who preceded him in death. Dick attended Colgate University in Hamilton, NY, where he studied psychology and history. He was an active member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity at Colgate. Dick made many life-long friends while at Colgate and loved to tell stories about his adventures and escapades with his fraternity brothers. Dick graduated from Colgate in 1954 and was drafted by the US Army. He was stationed in France and served two years. After returning from Europe, Dick was hired by Alcoa as a salesman. In 1958 Dick was transferred by Alcoa to a position in Milwaukee, WI. It was there that he met and fell in love with Marcia French and they were married in 1960. From 1961 to 1964 the couple had three sons. Also during this time, Dick started his own manufacturer's representative company, "Robco Sales and Engineering". Dick was well liked by his customers and "Robco" prospered. Dick Robbins had many hobbies and interests. He was passionate about Amateur (HAM) Radio as well as Radio Controlled Aviation. He was a student of military history and visited Omaha Beach in France on the 50th anniversary of D-day. He enjoyed tennis, racquetball, and squash. Dick was a member of St. Boniface Church in Mequon where he served as Senior Warden. He was also an avid amateur photographer and loved spending time at their Door County cottage. He played poker with the same wonderful group of buddies for nearly 60 years. Dick is remembered by his friends and family for his eternal optimism and his mischievous sense of humor. He would brighten up any room with a joke or a wise-crack. Dick was pre-deceased by his wife Marcia in 2014 after more than 50 years of marriage. He is survived by his sons, Richard (Yi-Jin), Brinton (Julie), and Michael, and his grandchildren, Elaina, Amy, Jack, Charlie, Owen, Ryan, Daniel, Henry, and Steven.
