WB9DAN - Jeffrey A. Iverson
First Call: WN9DAN issued in 1969

I was first licensed at age 14 as a Novice in 1969 in Hudson, WI as WN9DAN. I upgraded to General in 1970 and became WB9DAN. I upgraded to Advanced class in 1971. I was active in the 1970s, but my activity tapered off in the 1980s. I was married in 1985 and moved to Brooklyn Park, a suburb northwest of Minneapolis. In 2000, my 1Ø-year-old son became interested in amateur radio and was licensed as KC0KQJ. We became active on 2 meters FM and volunteering in the St. Paul Radio Club. In 2002 I finally upgraded to Amateur Extra class.

In 2011, another 10-year-old son became interested in amateur radio and was licensed as KDØNUW. I finally entered the solid state/digital age and purchased a Yaesu FT-450D in April. Running 100 watts to an Off-Center Fed dipole, I am having renewed fun working HF. Although it's fun to work DX when the bands are open, my main goal now is to get the WAS award that has eluded me for 45 years.

In 2019 I upgraded to the Yaesu FTDX-3000D, keeping the 450 as backup or emergency rig. Along the way I also acquired a Yaesu FT-817nd from a friend of mine when he became a SK. I purchased 100 watt 2-meter amp and hope to get back on 2 meter SSB.
