I have been a ham radio operator for 54 years starting out as WA9JAC in Peoria, IL. My father and I (12 years old) built my first 75watt crystal controlled cw transmitter right out of the ARRL handbook. I purchased an RME 4300 receiver and I was off and running. Presently, I have a Yaesu DX-5000, an ACOM 2000A, a QRO linear for backup, a Palstar HF-Auto tuner, and two end fed "L" antennas going across a lake in front of my house-about 30 degrees separation from the feedpoint, one antenna is about 200 feet long and the other is 100 feet.

I live in a restrictive covenant neighborhood in Jupiter so I had to be real stealthy on my antennas! They do an amazing much better than expected job on all bands 160-10. The height above the lake is only about 20 feet maximum but the lake acts as a wonderful counterpoise!

Besides ham radio, I ride motorcycles (BMW). I have made six tours in the Alps through Germany, Italy, Slovenia, and Switzerland. I have been a private pilot since 18 years old and fly every week. I hold private, instrument, and commercial ratings. I also sail boats and did one of my bucket list items last year in bareboating a 44 foot catermeran in the British Virgin islands. Will do it again this year!

Also celebrated my 40 year wedding anniversary with a land and cruise package to Alaska this year. I like riding bicycles long distances, and in Florida can do this all year long. I am still working and am a VP for a power equipment supplier based in Japan. Each week I play in a comtemporary worship group at my church called Doctrine that is simply amazing. That just about covers everything. Good hamming, DX'ing, or whatever else you are involved in this wonderful hobby. Oh, one last thing, I finally did a brief one week dx-pedition last year to St Croix, US Virgins Islands, (WP2/WC3W). I hope to do it again maybe later in the Spring!

PPS Oh the 3 call is from Pennsylvania where I lived 22 years in Chadds Ford, PA prior to moving to Florida.
