Hold a current amateur radio license and were first licensed 25 years ago or more? QCWA welcomes your experience.
Licensed 25 years ago and licensed today?
If you hold a current amateur radio license and were licensed 25 years ago or more, you qualify for QCWA membership. You do not need to have been continuously licensed throughout those 25 years.
You can join at any time during the calendar year you qualify. Check the Join/Renew page for the current application instructions and membership options.

How to join
Confirm your first licensing year.
Gather a copy of your original license, an early logbook entry, or a QSL card. Ask Headquarters for help if records are missing.
Choose your membership.
Select one year, two years, three years, or life membership. Current rates and family membership details are listed online.
Complete your application.
Use the Join/Renew page and follow its proof-of-licensing instructions. Keep your call sign and email address current.

You can connect with QCWA before you qualify.
Use free online study tools at HamStudy.org and email ai1u@qcwa.org to schedule an online exam with QCWA. Qualifying students under 18 can receive a free exam and FCC application fee reimbursement after passing, subject to program requirements. Ask the exam team about eligibility, initial payment, license issuance, and paperwork.
Licensed students may also qualify for QCWA scholarships with a member reference letter. The 25-year membership requirement does not apply to student scholarship applicants.
Estimated scholarship application window: October 31 - December 30, 2026. Both dates await ARRL Foundation confirmation. Check ARRL application dates and instructions before applying.
