Henry L. "Hank" Schultz, Jr., of Erie, Pennsylvania, passed away on June 17, 2018, at the Village at Luther Square. He was born on June 23, 1930, in Albany, New York, to the late Henry L. Schultz and Ella Rowe Schultz.
Hank graduated from Columbia High School in East Greenbush, New York in 1948 and from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1961 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Hank started his career at GE as a Lab technician, in Schenectady, NY, in the early 1950s, and then served in the United States Army in the mid 50s, stationed in Germany. He moved to Erie in 1962, where he was a Systems Engineer in the Speed Variator Department, designing drive systems for the steel, paper, tire and material handling industries until his retirement. Hank was known as the quintessential engineer. One of his proud accomplishments was the controls for the large crane at the Erie terminal on the Bayfront.
Hank was an avid amateur radio enthusiast (WI3U), liked helping people and was a fan and friend of Bob's Gun Shop in McKean.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy E. Smith and Marjorie A. Montross.
He is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be missed by family, friends and coworkers.
